We are excited to partner with the American Red Cross for the second year in a row on December 4th. We’ll be working together to give back to the community in a truly life changing way since each donation we collect can save up to three lives. Boise Young Professionals: Lunch and Learn: Tips to Achieve Financial Success
Get control of your money now using tips found in The Four Laws of Financial Prosperity. Based on the book by Blaine Harris & Charles Coonradt, we will discuss the principles found in this book and show you how you can use those in your lives to achieve financial success. Idaho Central Credit Union’s Business Development Officer, Mikkel McBride, will be our speaker for this lunch and learn!
Mikkel McBride was born and raised in Idaho, and has lived throughout Southern Idaho her whole life. She has been a Business Development Officer at Idaho Central Credit Union for 8 years now. Through her job, she has the opportunity to teach financial education to employees of her business partners and help with a variety of sponsorships and donations throughout the Treasure Valley.
Mikkel is also the Head Junior Varsity Softball Coach at Mountain View High School in Meridian and loves being a positive influence in her players’ lives. She is in the 2019-2021 Leadership Boise class and has most recently volunteered for Idaho Foodbank, Boise Rescue Mission, Nampa School District Family Community Resource Center, Crush the Curve as well as many others. She enjoys making a positive impact in the communities where she lives and works.

Boise Young Professionals: Lunch and Learn: Virtual Human Connection
Join us for our virtual November lunch and learn! Anne Olow, the Director of People Initiatives at Balsam Brands, will be leading attendees through an interactive and engaging session on creating and building sustainable virtual connection. This lunch and learn will consist of activities, discussion and reflection.
This event will be conducted virtually using Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent out the day before the lunch, November 3rd.
Boise Young Professionals: b|involved: Old Idaho Penitentiary Sweet & Spooky Locktober Event
Celebrate spooky season with fellow Boise Young Professionals. Sign-up to volunteer at October’s b|involved event - Sweet and Spooky Locktober Event with The Idaho State Historical Society! Whether you’re a member or just wanting to have fun and learn more about BYP, all are welcome!
Sweet ‘N Spooky night features trick or treat stations around the site where visitors can add to goodie bags, and add to their knowledge of the Old Idaho Penitentiary. Experience their newest exhibits and take some new stories home with you! Attendees will be provided with a bag for goodies.
Volunteers are needed on October 29th from 6:30 PM to 9 PM. Volunteers can choose to show up in family friendly costumes and run “Cell Treat Stations” or be “Site Patrol” if they’d prefer not to dress up. Once registered, the BYP event lead will send out an email to all registered to provide an opportunity to meet members prior to the event and to connect volunteers with the Idaho State Historical Society event manager to have additional questions answered.
Cell Treat Stations: Dress up in a family friendly costume, prison stripes and guards are encouraged but not required, and distribute candy to visitors. We will provide you with gloves and masks required. (up to 25)
Site Patrol: Walk a particular section of the site to ensure our site rules are being followed. This will require you to learn where restrooms and activities are located (provided in advance). Additionally, you may have to remind visitors about important rules regarding social distancing, mask-wearing, no running/climbing, etc. (up to 10)
Boise Young Professionals: b|schooled: How to Sell Yourself-An Interactive Workshop
Looking to get a promotion, expand your network, or just build or expand your personal brand? Learn from fellow BYP members how you can sell yourself on a daily basis to get further in your career and in life.
The goal of this b-schooled is to help people learn techniques they can use to sell themselves on a daily basis in order to help them reach personal and professional goals quicker. Half of the time will be Adrian Rodriguez teaching some of those techniques and skills, and the other half will be smaller break-out groups, where participants will work with their small group to create goals and an action plan that will help them take action on what they have learned.
This event will be conducted using Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to registrants on October 27th.
Boise Young Professionals: Community Engagement Work Team Meeting
Why we exist: To provide opportunities for young professionals to be a part of a fun, welcoming group of peers while benefiting their community by participating in volunteer opportunities and being civically educated and engaged.
What we do: Our work team partners and plans volunteer opportunities for our members through monthly b|involved events. We engage our members civically by offering a quarterly round table event with the Mayor of Boise, b|voting and b|on Board series.
